August 30, 2023

  • Seniors, check your email for the senior portraits schedules. Portraits are tomorrow and Friday of this week. If you have questions, email Mrs. Beck A.S.A.P.

  • If you are interested in running for Student Council, please see Mrs. Foley in room 104 for an application.  Applications are due back to Mrs. Foley by September 8th and elections will be held on September 15th.

  • Remember this Friday, September 1st, is National College Colors Day. We want to encourage everyone to display their team spirit and celebrate the day by wearing your favorite college team's colors and apparel.

  • Unified Champion Schools Club is a GREAT opportunity to build your resume and college application, while learning to get along with people you may not otherwise interact. All of this builds your social skills while also making a difference for our Special Olympic Athlete friends. Opportunities to travel as a Unified Champion Schools Special Olympics of North Carolina team or volunteering at State level competitions is yet another perk for simply being a good citizen. If you are interested in joining the club or even being a buddy at Spring Games, please sign up with Ms. Jennings, Ms. Misty, or Ms. Cable. A google form will be available, along with more information about Unified Champion Schools on our club website and on the Clay County SONC Facebook page.

  • We want to wish good luck to the Mens and Womens Cross Country runners in their meet at Tri County Early College today.  Teachers, please release those student athletes early from 4th block at 2:15 today.

  • I mentioned this yesterday, but again - very well done on yesterday’s code yellow lockdown.  I appreciate your calmness while still taking safety seriously.

  • Any female athlete interested in strength and conditioning in our Lady Jacket Strong program, please see Mrs. Hedden or Mrs. Trout.

  • Good luck to the HHS Cross Country team who will be competing at TriCounty Early College this afternoon.

  • And finally, it was an awesome performance last night from the JV and Varsity volleyball teams in their first conference matches.  The JV’s beat Swain in 2 games and the Varsity took down an undefeated Swain County in 4 games.  So tell your volleyball friends great job when you see them today.  Way to go ladies!

  • Remember to Show Up, Work Hard and Be Nice.  Go Jackets!
