Register with the Selective Service-All young men 18 years of age must register. You can register on line at www.sss.gov. You must register within 30 days of your 18th birthday. Failing to register could affect financial aid for colleges. What you need to know about Registering for the Selective Service information is in the

Guidance Office.

 

N.C. Summer Ventures in Math and Science

-Rising high school juniors and seniors

-Four-week program

-Average GPA 3.83

-No program costs for participants.

-Have completed application to Mrs. Nicholson by January 18, 2008 for counselor's part to be completed.

-Postmarked by January 31, 2008

 

Burger King Scholars Programs

-700 - $1000, scholarships for first year of college

-GPA of 2.5 or higher on 4.0 scale

-Work must average of 15 hours per week-40 weeks per year

-Demonstrate participation in community service or co-curricular activities

-Demonstrate financial need

-Receive written nomination and signature from a school official and an employer recommendation (neither of whom is related to the student)

-Plan to enroll in an accredited two/or four –year college, university or vocational/technical school by fall of the application year

-Applications are available on line at www.bk.com/scholars

-Postmarked by February 15, 2008

 

NC State University

-Two-Plus-Two Engineering Program at UNC Wilmington

-This program allows students to complete the first two years of an engineering curriculum at UNCW and complete their education at either North Carolina A & T State University, North Carolina State University, or the University of North Carolina at Charlotte
