Robert C. Byrd Scholarship Program

-$1,500 renewable for four years

-Must be US Citizen

-Must be legal resident of the State to which applying

-Must provide assurance that he/she will graduate during the 2007-2008 academic year.

-Must be recommended by his/her high school

-Must not be in default on Federal student loan

-Must enroll full-time at an accredited institution of higher education for the academic year of 2008-2009

-SAT combined total of at least 1875

-High school GPA (minimum of 3.5) unweighted

-Class rank (must be reported in percentage: upper 5%, 10%, 15 %, 20%)

-Transcript Analysis                                                                                                                  -Due to Mrs. Nicholson by December 4, 2007

 

Congressional Student Leadership Conference

-Any 9th-12thgrade student who is interested in participating in the Congressional Student Leadership Conference please come by the guidance office to add your name to the nomination list

 -Your nomination is based on academic excellence and leadership potential

 -The conferences will be held in the summer in various states on various subject matters

- The nominations are due November 12, 2007

 

Appalachain State University

If your are interested in ASU as one of your college choices be advised that to qualify for most of the school’s scholarships you must apply by November 15, 2007

-Can be used for 237 selective colleges and universities for admission to their undergraduate programs

-This application is available on-line at www.commonapp.org

 

American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest

-1st place $18,000, 2nd place $16,000, 3rd place  $14,000

-Must be citizen and under 20 years old

-9TH -12TH grades
