Financial Aid Workshop in the Hayesville High School Lecture Hall at 6:30 P.M. on February 4, 2008. There will be college representatives from Western Carolina University, Tri-County Community College, Young Harris College, North Georgia Technical College and a CFNC representative. Also the FAFSA form will be explained. Everyone is welcome so please try to attend.

Sammy USA Today-Scholar Athlete Milk-Sports Illustrated Scholarship

-$7500 College scholarship from MILK

-Senior student athlete

-25 winners

-Judging based on five criteria: academic performance (35%), athletic excellence (35%), leadership (15%), community service (10%) and milk experience (5%)

-SAMMY 2008 applications will only be accepted online at www.whymilk.com until March 7, 2008

Charles Edward Cathey Masonic Scholarship

-$1,000 scholarship for seniors

-Must attend a recognized post secondary educational program

-Have a four-year school GPA average of at least a 3.0

-Basis of award: individual’s scholastic achievement, participation in extra curricular activities, involvement in community, and personal recommendations

Sons of Confederate Veterans 2008 History Essay Contest

-Grades 9 through 12

-First prize $500 Savings Bond

-Topic should be on some event, individual, or group connected to the Sate of North Carolina during the War Between the States.
