VFW Post 6812 of
Hayesville voted to charter a Sea Scout Trip. It is for youth 14 to 20 years of
age/co-ed. For those Boy Scouts who are now members of a troop/or crew they can
register in the Sea Scouts at no charge. It offers education in the fields
related to ‘seamanship’ with activities that can range from seamanship type
events: small boat handling, to becoming a qualified seaman and safe boat
handling. It also has its very own ‘ranks’ and leadership positions with unique
uniforms all its own.
Sea Scouts can open
many doors to the high school age student for scholarships to outstanding
colleges and universities all over the USA and beyond.
For those interested
in more information, there will be an organizational meeting on the 26th
of January 2008 at the VFW Hayesville Park in the ‘John Corn’ building at 2:00
PM sharp.
