George and Frances London Educational Foundation Scholars Program

-Renewable $7,500 scholarship

-Seniors pursuing an education at an accredited four-year college or university

-Applicants should have demonstrated: high level of academic achievement; sincere interest in, and commitment to, pursing higher education; involvement in their community; leadership ability/potential; expectation of returning to home county following graduation to live and work for 4-5 years

-Applicants must have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 and a combined score of at least 1200 on the SAT in the critical reading and math areas

-Applications are due to Mrs. Nicholson by 3:00 pm on March 14, 2008

 

Hiawassee River Bass Club- Justin Nichols Memorial Scholarship

-Seniors

-Will be based on financial need, career interests, academic record, achievements, and community involvement

-All applications must be postmarked by April 21, 2008

 

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

-One-year scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $10,000

-Applicants must be the son/daughter of one of the following: Active duty reserve U.S. Marine; U.S. Marine who has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or was killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps; Active duty or reserve U.S. Navy Corpsman who is serving, or has served, with the U.S. Marines; U.S. Navy Corpsman who has served with the U.S. Marine Corps and has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or was killed while serving in the U. S. Navy

-See application for limited eligibility for grandchildren

-Must be graduating from high school in 2008

-Scholarships are targeted at eligible applicants from families with a maximum adjusted gross income of $77,000 or less

-GPA of at least at 2.0

-Applications are due on March 3, 2008

 

 

The Beal Scholarship

-Four-year scholarship awarded to a graduating senior in the amount of $10,000 the first year and renewable at $10,000 per year for the next three consecutive years

-1st runner-up receives a $5,000 one-time scholarship, 2nd runner-up receives a $2,500 one-time scholarship, 3rd runner-up receives a $1,000 one-time scholarship and 4th runner-up receives a $500 one-time scholarship

-This scholarship will be awarded to a well-rounded student with a distinguished scholastic record, focusing on the areas of: academic achievement; leadership; need and citizenship

-This grant may be applied to any accredited four-year college or university program, or a two-year college, provided a bachelor’s degree is to be eventually obtained.

-This application must be submitted to Mrs. Nicholson by 3:00 on March 31, 2008

 

The Beal Technical Scholarship

-A grant of $1,000 awarded to a graduating senior to be used at a technical or community college in pursuit of technical or job training

-The criteria for this scholarship will include academic achievement, need, participation in school activities, work outside of school in paid employment, and volunteer community service

-This application must be submitted to Mrs. Nicholson by 3:00 on March 31, 2008

 

N.C Governor’s Page Program

-Ages 15-18

-Need to live in North Carolina’s Eleventh Congressional District

-One week on a volunteer basis

-Twelve openings available for the week of

April 14-18, 2008

-Needs to be in good academic standing at their schools

-Completed applications, two recommendations and a school transcript must be mailed by March 14, 2008

-Applications are available in the Guidance Office

-One student will be selected from the applicants
