Ione M. Allen Music Scholarship

-To an accredited musical conservatory or other educational institution which has a music department of recognized standing

-Each scholarship shall not exceed the cost of tuition, books, fees and reasonable living and travel expenses at the particular institution attended by a recipient

-Personal interview and five minute composition required

-Letter of recommendation

-Applicants must demonstrate financial need

-Apply on line by February 1, 2008

-Additional materials must be mailed in one envelope and postmarked by February 1, 2008

 

J. Smith Howell Scholarship

-Applicant must be a resident of Cherokee, Graham or Clay Counties

-High school seniors graduating and going to a four-year accredited college/university in North Carolina in the fall of 2007

-Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement and financial need

-Apply on line at www.wachoviascholars.com by February 1, 2008

-Additional materials must be postmarked by February 1, 2008

 

SEANC  Scholarship Foundation

-Dependents of members of the State Employees Assoc. of N.C.

-Student must be full-time student enrolled in four-year college or enrolled in community college or technical school

-Categories: Financial Need, Merit or SEANC Member only

-Postmarked by April 15, 2008

-Mrs. Nicholson has applications

 

East Carolina University- Betty S. Abernathy Memorial Scholarship in Science Education

-Acceptance to attend East Carolina University

-Academic merit-at least a 3.0 high school GPA

-Demonstrated commitment to the study and a career in science education

Western North Carolina Regional Scholarships

 

Supplementary                Scholarship -Captain John Gardner USMC Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Scholarship Fund               

-Six $500 Scholarships for seniors who will attend accredited community college or four-year college or university

-Must be relative and descendants of active -duty Viet Nam Era Veterans

-Financial need a consideration and sound academic performance

-Due to Mrs. Nicholson by 3:00 PM on January 15, 2008

 

William Forster Jr. & Nancy Forster Steven Scholarship Fund-

& Clyde & Mildred Wright Scholarship

  -$1,000 non-renewable scholarship to one graduating senior

 from each county

-The $1,000 recipients will create the pool from which finalists will be selected to interview for:

-At least ten $1,000 to $5,000 scholarships per year for two to four years from the Clyde & Mildred Wright Scholarship Fund;    William Forster Jr. & Nancy Forster Steven Scholarship Fund,      the Lucius Lanier Memorial Scholarship Fund, and/or the Nelle Crowell Fletcher and G.L. Fletcher Fund

-Criteria- Financial Need, Strong moral character, Academic ability/achievement, community service-outstanding contributions to school and community, extracurricular activities and work experience

-Due to Mrs. Nicholson by 3:00 PM on January15, 2008

 

Harry W. Clarke Memorial Scholarship Community College Scholarship

-Community College scholarship –One scholarship of $750 renewable for one year-Must attend an accredited two-year college in the 29 county areas

- Four Year College/University Scholarship one scholarship of $1,500 renewable for three years (possible total scholarship of $6,000) -Must attend an accredited four-year college or university in 29 county areas              

  -Criteria- Financial need, Strong moral character, academic ability/achievement, community service-outstanding contributions to school and community, extracurricular activities and work experience

-Due to Mrs. Nicholson by 3:00 PM on January15, 2008
