Linda Barrett

Welcome to my web page! Here are a few facts about me. I began my teaching career here at HHS in 1997, and I have thanked God ever since for placing me in the most wonderful school in the world! I received my AA from Young Harris College, my BS from North GA College and State U., and my MA in English Education from Piedmont College. National Board Certification came in 2004. My husband and I have three great sons: Timothy, Jonathan, and Michael. I enjoy chocolate, travel (especially cruising), cooking (and eating others' cooking) and working out-so I can do more of the previous three. I also love to read the classics. Voltaire, Dickens, and Chopin are among my favorites.

I went into teaching because I have a heart for teenagers and want to see each one succeed in his or her unique way. Each young person has special talents that just need to be tapped in order to grow. English and Communications can work toward that goal. As we examine the literature in these classes, we will stimulate our imaginations, better understand the human experience (including our own), and see beyond our limited worlds. By studying grammar and using different types of writing, we will gain the power to make our ideas clear, concise, and persuasive. What a great opportunity!

Speaking of opportunities, don't forget to check out "schoolwork." All my assignments are posted there. If you have any questions, please call or come by during my planning. Thank you for your interest!
