Jennifer Gibson
The instrumental music program in Clay County consists of four middle school bands (one in each grade level) and two high school groups: marching band in the fall and concert band in the spring. All of the bands perform during the year at various concerts, such as Veteran's Day, Christmas, Memorial Day, Spring and others. Both high school bands compete in marching band contests and state concert band festival. Students also have many other opportunities, such as: All-District Band, All-State Band, Honors Bands, Solo and Ensemble Festival, and local performance venues. Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory is also offered. On a personal note I received my bachelor's in music education from Meredith College in Raleigh and my master's in music education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. I earned National Board certification in 2006 and am currently working towards a doctorate in musical arts. I am a member of MENC, NCMEA, Western District Bandmasters, Women Band Directors International, and Sigma Alpha Iota. My husband, Andy, and I have twin girls who are the light of our life and enjoy doing things with our band family. Please call director, Jennifer Gibson, at 828-389-6532 for more information.
