Welcome to my faculty page. My name is Carla Beck, and I am a proud Yellow Jacket! After graduating from Hayesville High School in 1991, I attended Western Carolina University and obtained my B.S.E.D. in English in 1995. My husband and I moved to Hendersonville, NC and I became a teacher at West Henderson High School where I taught English I and English IV. I have been teaching at Hayesville High School since 2001. Currently, I teach Communication Skills I, English I, Honors English I, and Yearbook. My husband and I have three children, Elizabeth (7), Victoria (11), and Savannah (14). Last year, I completed my Masters Degree in Secondary English Education through Piedmont College in Demorest, GA. I strive to create a positive classroom environment where students feel welcome to share ideas and discuss literature in relation to their own lives and the world at large. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy hiking, baking, traveling, and reading.
