Hi! I received my Bachelors of Science in Secondary Social Science Education from Western Carolina University in 1998. I started teaching Civics at HHS in 1999. In 2004, I received my Master's of Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Social Science from the University of Columbia-Missouri. In 2006, I achieved National Board Certification. This year I took on a new position as the Media Coordinator. I am currently working on my Master's in Library Science through Appalachian State University. I see this as an opportunity to show our students that you can be a life-long learner.

On the family side of my life, my husband Jason and I have three children - Eli, Lila and Tate. I enjoy spending time with my family, clogging, singing in my church choir, and reading when I have time. Life is an adventure that never slows down. Watching my children grow and change is an amazing thing I get to experience each day – and I am very thankful for getting to do this.

Some of my responsibilities include Student Council Sponsor, Quiz Bowl Sponsor, Kids Voting Clay County Board Member and Clay County, NC 150th Birthday Committee.
